A RassKuzik "out of focus"
We worked ourselves to the bone on the shoot, 14 to 16 hours. Fatigue sometimes led to mishaps. During the bathing scene Alexei Buldakov lost his footing and fell chest-first onto a rock. He injured his ribcage. Rogozhkin let him go off to hospital. After all, there wasn't even a first-aid kit on set. Or rather, there was a first-aid kit — belonging to the on-set manager, Alexander Vasiliev, whom Rogozhkin had nicknamed "Major Whirlwind" for the speed at which he dashed about on errands. Only there were no medicines whatsoever in his kit. We discovered this when someone's heart played up and we needed some Corvalol. We opened the kit, and inside — nothing but condoms! "Major Whirlwind" made excuses for ages: "Lads, lads, what's the harm in it? I didn't take them just for myself. It was for the whole crew!" Well, at the hospital an amusing thing happened to Buldakov. There we all sit together: me, Buldakov, Strugachov, Haapasalo, waiting for the results of the X-ray. We're thinking, worrying about our comrade. Out comes a young girl "doctor" and sweetly says: "Excuse me, Alexei Ivanovich, but you're out of focus. We need to take another picture." How we laughed. An actor can be out of focus on film, in a photo — but for a ribcage to be out of focus on an X-ray, that's nonsense! P.S.: Fortunately, no serious injury was found in Buldakov, and we decided to celebrate. We went to a café, since a day off lay ahead, and celebrated well. At some point Buldakov asked Ville again how old he was. Ville pondered. And went off to ring his mother in Finland. His mother said Ville was 22, and then, with a heavy sigh, uttered: "My little son! How hard it must be for you in Russia, you've even forgotten your own age!"
